Chapter 1

Jensen let out an exhausted sigh. His finals are tomorrow and he’s a nervous wreck… Archeology is no fun when he had exams hot on his neck. He had been doing nothing but studying crazily and loosing his temper over little things.  Jared was wonderfully tolerating him which had actually been a blessing to him.

He scratched his beard absently…Oh yeah his beard has come in to action too!! He stared at the book for about ten minutes, not really getting anything into his head. Two warm arms circled around him and he felt Jared’s chin resting on his head before the soft kiss, which the younger boy planted on the top of his head. Jensen sighed. He brought Jared around and onto his lap.

“Damn I hate exams” Jensen said hugging Jared, burying his face in the chestnut locks. Jared wiggled out a bit and turned to Jensen capturing his boy friend’s sinful lips. Jensen immediately responded mapping the inside of his mouth.  They released each other’s lips to breathe and rested their foreheads together.

“I just wish I was a fireman then I could save handsome boys like you” Jensen whispered his hands roaming on Jared’s chest, teasing his nipples. Jared made a face and poked Jensen on the chest.

“You are only allowed to save me” he said in a whining voice. Jensen stuck his tongue out.

“So why did you come to distract me?”  Jensen asked ruffling the younger boy’s mop.

“You should eat…the dinner is getting colder” Jared said in a matter of fact voice and Jensen chuckled.

“Ok…and I thought about going to bed early today” Jensen winked at Jared and shooed him off his lap. Jared gave a knowing smirk and walked into the kitchen. They talked and joked while eating and Jensen was hit by the realization how tired he was actually feeling. They showered quickly and snuggled under the comforter. Jared spooned him from behind and soon they were fast asleep.

Jensen handed in two papers on that day and the next paper was due in a week. He suggested to Jared that they should take a break and go to movies. So they could sit back, relax and enjoy some downtime together. Neither one of them was ready for what happened at the cinema.

Jared was mimicking the actor eating a healthy amount of popcorn in one mouthful when the fire started. It started in the section at the back and within minutes it was frantic inside the cinema. People were screaming, rushing and trying to get out of the doors in such a hurry that no one was actually able to get outside.

The whole situation panicked them both especially Jared who had some tragic experiences with fire. Jensen grabbed Jared’s hand and rushed to the entrance, pushing the other people with all of his might trying to get Jared out to safety.  Jensen vaguely heard the hitch in the younger boy’s breathing. The smoke and heat was delaying them as well as the rush of the people.

Jensen heart almost stopped when he felt Jared’s fingers slipping away from him. Jensen stopped immediately and whirled around to look for Jared who had slipped out of his hand. He pushed the people away and rushed back and barely noticed Jared who had been struggling to get back to him. He rushed to Jared’s side and tugged him along with effort as they stumbled towards the entrance.

 

Jensen heaved as the fresh air tried to soothe his lungs that felt like they were on fire. He coughed and fell to the ground on all fours throwing up until he was on dry heaves. Jensen spit a couple of times to get the foul taste out of his mouth. He ran a shaky hand through his hair. Taking another deep breath Jensen turned to Jared who was still on dry heaves. Jensen crawled to Jared’s side and rubbed circles on his shaking back. Jared slumped boneless into Jensen’s arms panting and trembling. Jensen held him tight remembering that just a few minutes before they could have died.  He almost jumped when he felt someone touch him on the shoulder.  He blinked at the fireman and then back at Jared who was wheezing and lying limply in his arms. The fireman repeatedly asked whether he was ok and it took a few minutes for him to finally nod and let the paramedics handle them.

They were both treated for smoke inhalation and burns they had suffered. Thankfully none of them were badly burnt. They both stayed in the ambulance along with some other people from the cinema. Jared was in shock and Jensen was worried about the younger boy. The paramedics were also concerned about him. Jensen told them about what happened with his earlier encounters concerning fires and the paramedics nodded in sympathy.

When Tom and Mike rushed to the scene, Jared was asleep with the oxygen mask still on. They had to wait for awhile and then they were advised if there was any change to contact them for medical assistance. Tom carried Jared to their car and settled him on Jensen’s lap. Jared let out a small whimper and snuggled to Jensen. 

 

Jensen caressed Jared’s pale cheek trying to comfort whatever was going in Jared’s mind. He sighed tiredly and rested his head on the cool window. Tonight was going to be tough because Jensen was sure that Jared would be assaulted by the nightmares. He wished that he would be able to stay awake for Jared despite his own weary body. Jensen closed his eyes and put one hand on Jared’s chest to feel his heartbeat that kept him alive and sane and the other hand was on Jared’s forehead.

Tom looked worriedly at Jensen and Jared who were both in a restless sleep on the back seat.  If they could just stay at Jensen’s place with them it would be better. Jensen was not in any shape to take care of Jared alone. Tom bit his lip wondering whether Jensen would like the idea.

“Hey we’ll be staying there” Mike said in a determined voice. Tom blinked at him and Mike made a face.  “What?”

“When did you start reading my mind” Tom asked with a small smile. Mike winked at him.

“Let’s just hope Jensen will agree. You know what a hardhead he can be” Tom said looking back at them.

“Well…screw what Jensen thinks for now. He can barely stay awake so how in the hell is he going to kick us out” Mike said firmly. “Beside we are far too adorable to be kicked out”

“I know. I’m worried about Jared. He has had far too many experiences with fires than I want to think about.” Tom said rubbing his eyes tiredly. Mike nodded and sighed.

They drove back to Jensen’s house in silence. Mike woke up Jensen who blinked and rubbed the sleep away. He looked around confused for a few minutes and then sighed

“Thanks man” He said checking on Jared, who was still asleep on his lap,

Jensen brushed the hair out of Jared’s eyes and the younger boy mumbled something and leaned into his touch.  “We are staying” Mike announced trying to wake Jared who snuggled more into Jensen.

“Why” Jensen asked pushing away Mike’s hand and taking over the job of waking up Jared.

Because you both need someone to take care of you and I don’t want to  deal with your hard head.”

“Hey” Jensen glared indignantly and it was wasted because Mike ignored it. Jensen let out a frustrated sigh.  “Look man I appreciate it but…” Jensen was rudely cut off when Mike pinched him on the arm.  “Dude!!!” Jensen snapped and that woke up Jared. The younger boy blinked at them sluggishly. Jensen clasped his hand on Jared’s and squeezed it.

“Hey baby” Jensen said caressing Jared’s cheek and Jared gave him a weak smile in return. Jensen helped him to get up and inside to the house. Jared leaned heavily on him and Tom supported Jared from the other side.

They were greeted by an over excited Harley and Sadie but as soon as they figured out that something was wrong with their masters, both dogs started whining. Jared petted the dogs absentmindedly as he sat down on the sofa while Jensen filled the bathtub for him to clean up and get rid of the smell of smoke, dirt and ashes.

 
Jensen sighed seeing that Jared was still staring blankly although he was petting the dogs. Harley and Sadie were still whining and licking Jared trying to climb onto Jared’s lap. It took quite a lot of time to free Jared from their grasp.

 
Jensen led Jared to the bathroom and helped him get undressed and into the bath. Jensen washed Jared’s hair and body until the only smell was that of the soap and shampoo he used. He helped Jared get into clean clothes and bundled up the younger boy under the comforter.

 
Jensen leaned onto the tile of the shower exhausted and what happened came over him full force.  He hugged himself as the tears fell. Jensen stayed in the shower until the hot water was gone and he was shivering. Jensen tiredly turned off the shower and dried himself.

 
He walked to the guest room to say good night to Tom and Mike. Both hugged Jensen and he leaned into their hug drawing strength from them. He was thankful that they were staying. Mike was right, they both needed them.

 
Jensen stumbled back to their bedroom. Sadie had curled herself on Jared’s feet and Harley was leaning against Jared’s back. Both dogs thumped their tails when Jensen came inside. Harley jumped down so Jensen could crawl onto the bed. Jensen gently settled Jared so that his head was resting on Jensen’s chest. Harley climbed onto the bed and curled himself on Jensen’s feet. Jensen heaved a sigh. He placed a soft kiss on Jared’s forehead and hugged the younger boy tightly.

 
“Have a good night Jay…” he mumbled into the soft brown locks hoping that Jared would not be assaulted by nightmares.

 

Chapter 2

A/n. This story had been bugging me so I wanted to write it. I hope it's good and it won't be a long story only about three more chapter which means I can get it finish soon. But please don't expect much soon *puppy dog eyes* I have exams on August 11. So I'm busy  these days :(

Oooh this looks interesting! I'd love to read more of it and yes it's definately good. Mike and Tom are so sweet in this, it's good to see them looking out for our boys *g*

I'm curiosu about the, was it an accident, can you give me some hints?

Don't worry if you can't write a lot now, we all understand RL can get really busy, you'd be surprised how long people are willing to wait for the next chapter of a good story - look how long we have to wait for each new season of Supernautral to begin!

Also I haven't forgotten about ch 2 of the Hand the Wounds, my Rl has also been really busy recently, but I'm almost finished beta'ring it, so I'll hopefully have it with you really soon.

Ahh... I'm actually scared of fires!!!The story came to my head and souldn't stop bugging so I let go off it. Finally got some downtime from college and I'm going to write some more these days
